Snail Mail Monday

I have a lot of incoming to share today. Wow. You can click on the smaller pictures to make them larger.

Cool mail art done on a magazine subscription card – such a great idea!

The groundhog is really cute, haha.

Hardees bag! Some of these are so creative.

Fantastic package from Kristy. Look at all these notecards & goodies!! I love the Charlotte’s Web card.

Envelopes made from some really pretty vintage paper.

And this amazingness is from Amanda Atkins. I love her art. The picture is amazing.. and the paper doll.. & she included the sweetest note (that I’m not going to share, sorry!). The print is called “Rebecca & the Racoon”. Here is her shop. She is so talented, I can’t wait to find a place for this in my new home.

Middle Name Pride Day

Holly Knitlightly is celebrating holidays every day this year and today is Middle Name Pride Day.

My middle name is Amanda. I have no idea where it came from, but I’ve always loved it. It means “worthy of love”. When I was really little I liked it more than my first name and tried to go by it, but it never stuck. Sometimes I would pretend Amanda was my “evil twin”. Or else, she was the good one and Lauren was the evil twin. Later, there were many more Amandas in my classes than Laurens (though, now Lauren seems to be way more popular & they all seem to be my age. Where were they then?).

When I was 11, my sister was born and her name is Amanda. (We had different moms so I guess this is enough criteria for this horrible theft!) So she basically stole my name and ran off with it, never to allow me the fun of my middle name again! 😉 This is what an evil Amanda name thief looks likes:

Gosh, it’s not even fair. There are songs about my middle name – Amanda by Waylon Jennings and Amanda by Boston. Mandy by Barry Manilow. I always loved the Waylon Jennings song. And what does Lauren get? hmm?

I’ve been trying desperately to get a nickname for oh, my entire life (haha – well, I used to have them for my last name, Tatar, but never for my first) and I’ve heard that people have gone by Lo, Laur or Ren for Lauren before, though I’ve never really been called any of those (at least not seriously – tried Ren/Rennie for a bit and it never really stuck though I love it). Sam thinks that I should go by Lo Mein – Lo for Lauren and Mein for Amanda.

So, what’s your middle name? Do you like it?

Weekend to do list:

– pack!
– get rid of stuff on freecycle/goodwill (bookcases, old tv, old tv stand, wood in basement, etc.)
– take some fun pictures! i haven’t taken anything for fun in awhile.
– read – I’m trying to make sure I don’t fall behind in reading during this move!
– keep up with 30 days of lists! (weekends are the time that it’s easiest to fall behind for me)
– find new PO box closer to new place
– fill out change of address forms

Can I just say I have six boxes of books packed already and it barely finished the first book shelf? The smallest one.. The last move was 16 boxes of books. 1. I’m sure we have more now and 2. I’m trying to use smaller boxes. This is why we’re buying a dolly for this move, no not one, but two of them – one for each of us.

Last count was about two years ago, and we had 1000-ish books, counting children’s books. I’m counting again during this move (just count what’s in the box and put the number on the box! Really easy.) so I’ll let you know what we have again.

Also, don’t forget to change your clocks this weekend.

New house

If I got MIA for the next oh, seven weeks, this is probably why!

Assuming everything goes well, we’ll be signing the lease to rent this place. We’ll be moving in April 8th-ish, but we’re overlapping rent so we have 3 weeks to pack and 3 weeks to move. Pretty cool, since we normally have a week total! It’s about 20 minutes from here, so not a far away move or anything.

The house has four bedrooms and two full baths. It’s a split level and upstairs is the living room, dining room, kitchen, three bedrooms and a bath. Downstairs is a den/2nd living area, laundry room, bath and master bedroom. The yard has a split rail fence but the landlord is going to put in mesh just for us to make it dog proof.

And the best part?? Beach access! It’s along the Severn River, which is a part of the Chesapeake Bay and the community has five beaches and we will have access cards for all of them. We drove by the one closest to us, it’s about a five minute walk and it’s nice. I’m looking forward to a future of jellyfish stings! Yes!

Here are the pictures I snagged from the ad & emails with the landlord. lol I think the kitchen is really cute (minus the curtains).

So, cross your fingers, but they told us that they liked us the best and we’ve been talking to them all morning passing information and they sent us a copy of the lease with information already catered to us written in it. Short of saying “it’s yours”, I think it’s ours if nothing goes weird, lol.

This is the downstairs living area. It has a gas stove thing. 🙂
