Snail Mail Monday

I only have one to share this week, but it’s special because it’s from one of my best friends, Tina.

She was my FIRST piece of mail in my new P.O. box so it’s even more special!!

I love her little elephant butt, hahhaa!!

My Camera Collection

Pugly Pixel did a post showing her camera collection, which is very fun so I’m doing the same.

1. Polaroid Impulse 2. Polaroid Onestep 3. Kodamatic 4. Fuji Instax Mini 7s 5. Kodak 35mm b&w disposable 6. Diana mini 7. Canon A560 8. Polaroid 35mm 9. Olympus 35mm 10. HTC Android w/Vignette App (taking the pic!)

1. This one was our Polaroid growing up. I need to get some film for it.
2. I got this from Freecycle before I ended up finally getting number one in my possession.
3. I have no idea if finding film for the Kodamatic is possible. It is an instant camera and I think competed with Polaroid at the time. If anyone knows how to find film for this, I’d love to try it out.
4. My favorite!
5. Just a disposable with b&w film that I haven’t quite finished up yet.
6. Another favorite. Right now the first roll of film happens to be stuck and won’t wind. I guess when I cut that one out of there, I’ll get it [partially] developed.
7. My regular digital camera. I use my cell most of the time, anymore.
8. My 35mm growing up. (Not my first, but I think maybe second.)
9. I think this one is broken, lol. I should get rid of it.
10. I pretty much use this over my actual digital camera most of the time, unless I need some decent zoom.
11. My invisible DSLR.

There is a major problem with my collection. It’s missing a DSLR, because I DON’T HAVE ONE YET. I’m hoping to get one from Christmas, but that’s so far away. That is my number one camera wishlist item!

I also want: vintage cameras (that don’t necessarily work), a good vintage SLR that does work, a flash for the Diana mini, and more toy cameras (especially the Holga). I’m always looking at the old cameras at flea markets and antique shops.. some day I will own one!

Share your camera collection and then go to Pugly Pixel and add your post to the linky widget.

Postcard Project

Instead of Sketchy Thursday, I am going to do something (that I like) better on Thursdays. My grandma (mom’s mom) collected postcards and I ended up with the collection in middle school, after she passed away. I added to the collection during family trips back then (back when you could actually find postcards at rest stops!), but didn’t really touch them again until now.

Some of my grandma’s postcards were written on, so I thought it would be interesting to share them, as well as others in the collection and the occasional newer one. My Postcrossing Wall has some of them if you’re interested.

I think it will be nice to have them all eventually uploaded, maybe I’ll make a gallery for them at some point.

The Old C&O Canal in Georgetown

Chesapeake and Ohio Canal
Georgetown, Washington, D.C.

A picturesque scene of Colonial Georgetwon houses along a restored section of the old canal, which was planned to connect the Potomac and Ohio Rivers. Construction began at Georgetown in 1828, but with the advent of railroads, the canal was built only to Cumberland, Md., which was reached in 1850. Mule-drawn barges proved service until 1924.

Hi!
Having fun with Beth in this area, Pennsylvania and going to Maryland.
I thought you were so pretty at the wedding!
♡ Doris

Doris is my great aunt and Margie is my grandma.. not sure who Beth is or anything about the wedding. The postmark is August 9th, 1982 and check out the 13 cent stamp!

thoughts on being a wife & other pages

I have two art journaling pages from the Tell Your Story class I did back in May. 🙂

The first prompt was “thoughts on being a..” and the second was just playing around.

I love being married. It means having someone to explore this crazy life with. having silly moments. having fun and serious moments. sorting through the good and bad is better and easier with someone beside you always.

I also have two more pages from the 30 Day Challenge (that obviously is taking me more than 30 days!). The first prompt was blogs you follow and the second was “time for..”.

Snail Mail Monday

What? Not another new feature!?! 😉

I’ve been getting a lot of mail lately, between penpals, Postcrossing, Sendsomething and Swap-bot and I love when other bloggers share their mail, so I want to do the same thing on a regular basis.

And if you’re interested in a penpal, a private swap or you just want to send me something out of the kindness of your heart, send me an email for my address!

This one is from one of my penpals. She sends really cool mail, and usually with lots of *extras* as well. I didn’t get a picture of that though because I already dumped them into my growing ephemera stash.

This is from an owl ATC swap.

The coloring book ATC swap.

October birthday swap.

I just want to say how awesome these little tiny instant photos are. The person who sent them to me said that Polaroid made the camera, but she couldn’t remember the name. If anyone recognizes these teeny little instant photos and the name of the camera, please let me know.

Also October birthday swap. I didn’t take a very good picture of it, but if you can tell, there is a picture of a pie cut out on the envelope – my “birthday pie”.

hair quickie

I dyed my hair a dark, dark brown (got sick of the inches of roots from when I dyed my hair pink and it faded and faded more and I dyed it a color that did a little but not really and of course not the roots and faded more, haha good story.) and then cut my bangs on Friday.

also, i never posted this picture from the buckcherry and flyleaf concert i went to a few weeks ago (i haven’t gone through those pics yet – but they’re crappy anyway) but i really like it, and so we’ll call it my “before”. 🙂

coloring book ATCs

I did my first ATCs on Swap-bot. ATCs are artist trading cards and you basically umm.. trade them. They are done on 2.5×3.5in. cards of about cardstock thickness or more (the size to fit in a typical trading card sleeve). You can buy packs of ATC blanks at Michael’s on bristol, watercolor, acrylic paper, or you can make your own. The size is what is important. Then you can basically do whatever you want on them, from pencil to using scrapbooking embellishments.

(I wish I could do things as amazing as the ones at this site and at this one!)

The first swap I did was the Coloring Book ATC swap. You create an ATC for your partner to color. I think my partners didn’t hate them too much, haha.

Anyway, happy Friday!! Hope you have a good weekend. 🙂

Sketchy Thursday

Where I pull something out of my sketchbook and share it.. could be an actual sketch or a doodle or use paint or whatever and it could be good or it could suck, yay for gambling!
