Hello! We’re mostly all moved into our new place, just a few things left to move. No internet until the 19th! So, I’m on my phone right now.
Just a few pics I took for fun.
See you soon!

Is there something wrong with my feed again that I have no comments on my last post? Or did you guys all abandon me already for being such a bad blogger? ๐
Today’s postcard is from London, from my great aunt to my grandma.
The Prince and Princess of Wales; H.M. The Queen and the Beefeaters of the Tower of London; Trooping the Colour; Buckingham Palace
Dear Margie,
We have seen and done so much since we arrived here on Tuesday. It is so cold here. Will travel to other parts of England and maybe go over to a part of France. Hope you are well. I miss you.
Love,
Doris

I feel like book reviews/talking about books doesn’t really fit this blog, and even if it does technically fit, it doesn’t really open up the door for rambling about books constantly, lol.
If I started a book blog (reviews, new releases, hauls, chatting about books in whatever other way) would anyone here be interested in reading it? I personally read literary, YA, some chick-lit and the occasional Beverly Lewis or John Grisham. Lately, I’m on a YA kick which I could see lasting for awhile. I like to branch out as well and try new things, but I really don’t read a lot of genre fiction (the “categories” in mass market, like sci-fi, romance, mystery, true crime, that sort of thing). I read non-fiction as well, but I imagine I would not include it much in this hypothetical blog haha.
Personally, I think I really suck at writing reviews. I find it difficult to sum up a book without actually giving anything away, but it’s something I’d like to try.
We get the keys to our new place on Friday, so we’re going to start moving in this weekend! I’m really excited! I hope that means I’ll actually be writing new posts soon. Gosh, I suck at timing. I had that giveaway, got all these new readers, and now I’m abandoning you. ๐

I just finished the sixth and final book in the Vampire Academy series by Richelle Mead.
Rose Hathaway is a 17 year old dhampir (child of a vampire and human) who is training to be a bodyguard for her best friend, a moroi (good vampires) named Vasilisa “Lissa” Dragomir, who is also a princess and the last of her family line. They attend St. Vladimir’s Academy and Rose’s trainer and love interest is Dmitri Belikov, another dhampir who is supposed to be Lissa’s other bodyguard after they graduate.
The characters are good and they develop and the series improves as you read through it.
If you liked Twilight, then I think you will like this. In fact, if you didn’t like it, I’d give this a try instead, as I personally liked this series better. The characters are more lovable (especially the love interests), the overall plotline more interesting and well developed and the overall writing is better.
I definitely recommend these. 5/5 stars.
There is a spin-off of this series, starting with the book Bloodlines, set to come out August 23, 2011. (Which I hope to get my hands on as soon as it’s possible to hunt down an advanced readers copy, haha!)
Wikipedia says: “It follows the story of narrator Sydney Sage.[..] Jill Mastrano, Eddie Castille, Sydney and Adrian Ivashkov are confirmed characters, and the main setting is going to be a California high school.”
You can see my updated booklist here and find me on Goodreads.

Tomorrow I won’t be blogging because I’m participating in the Bloggers Day of Silence.
If you’re looking for an organization to donate to for Japan, check out the project For Japan With Love and donate to the organization they chose called ShelterBox. ShelterBox provides shelter & emergency supplies to families during disasters.
Each large, green ShelterBox is tailored to a disaster but typically contains a disaster relief tent for an extended family, blankets, water storage and purification equipment, cooking utensils, a stove, a basic tool kit, a childrenโs activity pack and other vital items.

Lately I’ve been into a lot of indie stuff, but my favorite music is the older stuff. Most of my life I’ve been a classic & southern rock fan. My all time favorites are ballads with a blues or soul sound. [A little less jazz-pop, a little more blues-rock, please!]
Presence of the Lord – Eric Clapton
You Really Got a Hold On Me – Smokey Robinson & the Miracles
There is a scene in Roseanne (one of the best shows ever) where Bonnie Bramlett (Delaney & Bonnie – great soul group) sings this & it’s one of my favorite scenes. I know I’ve posted it before, but I’m going to post it again.
A Song for You – originally Leon Russell, the most known version is Donny Hathaway. Also done by Willie Nelson, Michael Buble (ew), Christina Aguilera, The Carpenters.. My favorites are the Leon Russell and Ray Charles versions.
Ain’t No Sunshine – Bill Withers
Simple Man – Lynyrd Skynyrd
The Chain – Fleetwood Mac – you can look this one up if you don’t know it, but I want to share a much lesser known version. Scarlett Pomers (she was on Reba) & Jak Paris – It’s an amazing cover. This song is more rock/folk even (at least the original), but it makes the list.
Anyone have anything to add to this list? Anyone else in their 20s actually heard of these songs or am I just too old for my age? haha!
