Guest Post: Justine from Real Life

Hello! Another guest post! How fun are these? This one is from Justine from Real Life. Enjoy!

Hello! My name is Justine from my new blog Real Life! I am really excited about this guest post. I wanted to talk about FONT! And how much I love Font and Typography!

There are many ways certain font can make your blog posts so fun! Now lets get started.

First: Look for a font! I love these sites. They provide great free fonts.

Sometimes I browse through popular or recent, but usually I browse through Handwritten fonts. 🙂

This is my most recent favorite font:

I found it here.

If you don’t know how to install fonts have no fear its extremely easy. Click download and a file will pop up with the font inside, click the font and click install. It will instantly download and file it into your font folder. You can use it in any program after that!

Now, what kinds of things can you do with some great fonts? How about make a new header? Create some nifty buttons? OR  add some text to your images. Here is a photo I did to make a little joke calender:

Or you can make an inspirational photo to keep your hopes up.

(Photo from HERE)

Thank you Lauren for letting me guest post! I have a favorite font friday series over on my blog it you want to check it out. 🙂

Daily Outfit

So, I assure you, I’m still alive. If you haven’t had a chance to check it out yet, go back and see the last two guest posts! The last one has a giveaway – so, go! (And then come back here.)

I bought some new clothes sometime last week from Ross and ended up spending $110 on 6 tops, 2 cardigans, 1 zip up fleece, 1 dress and a pair of jeans!

I took a picture of one of my outfits I made from it, so umm, yay, I have an outfit to share. And yes, I wear slippers as boots. I LIKE them. I DON’T think they’re ugly. (But, even with that said, I don’t really wear these too much, they’re mostly just worn as slippers, haha) And you can see one of my new pairs of glasses from Zenni Optical. (pair number.. six? I definitely recommend them!)

(I mostly included this second picture because of Stinky Puppy – because who can resist how cute she is??)

top: Ross, this is actually a really pretty top with lace on the top and shoulders.
cardigan: Ross
jeans: Old Navy skinny jeans
slippers: uhh old
scarf: Forever 21
belt: old, Torrid
glasses: ZenniOptical
stinky puppy: totally cute mini aussie shepherd puppy whose real name is molly

Guest Post: Fritzi Marie

Happy Monday! (haha) I have another guest post here from Fritzi Marie! And, a little giveaway too! How exciting! (I’ll choose the winner on.. hmm, how about Thursday??)

Dearest Oh, Lauren Friends,

I’m sitting in for our dear Lauren and wishing her a speedy recovery.

My name is Fritzi Marie and I love to make care packages and send wishes out into the world. When I am feeling down my favorite thing to do to perk myself up is to make a care package for a friend. My goal is to put all of my energy into that friend by making “happy mail” that will brighten her day. The most important thing to remember when making a care package is to never expect anything in return. A true care package (one that helps you heal) is a gift of love.

Here are my tips for making a lovely care package.

-Pick yourself up and decide who you want to make feel special.
-Do a little bit of research about your dear friend.  Inventory her favorite things and her personality.
-Pick a theme and run with it.
-Get out of your house and go somewhere local to pick up a gift.
-Next go to your local shop (I go to Target) pick up a treat (for you to sip on) and shop with your friend in mind. (Remember: this act of love is not about spending a lot of money, it is about sending happy thoughts out into the world).
-Now take yourself home and put on your comfies, put a pretty movie on, and spread out all of your goodies and take a good look at them.
-This is the fun part. Start personalizing your pretties. Grab some treasure (I have a vintage shop and I go to estate sales every Friday to find items for my shop, my home, and my friends).
-Then get out all of your packing supplies and stationery and get to making everything look like a million bucks. It’s all about presentation.
-Write a sweet note, it will make your heart happy.
-Lastly, go to the Post Office and send that package full of happy feelings out into the world. I promise you will feel like a superstar.

I’m up to my ears in Care Package Goodness over here. I just put this care package together for my friend Jane. (the photo above is what I found for her) It was a giveaway I was doing for my shops one year anniversary.  Jane loves poetry, the outdoors, her family and fall colors.  Every item I chose to send her reminded me of her.
That is what makes putting a care package together a gift of love and yourself.  Take your time and make it extra special.

So here’s the deal, tell me about a care package you received and how it made you feel and the winner will get some Fritzi Marie surprise mail. Leave your comment here on Lauren’s blog but come visit me too, I love making new friends.  Hooray for friends and Happy Mail.

love love love,
Fritzi Marie

Guest Post: Michelle from Books ‘N Shoes

Happy Friday! Here is my first guest blogger, Michelle from Books ‘N Shoes! Eee, how exciting!! Enjoy!

Hi, my name is Michelle, and my usual home is over at Books ‘N Shoes! Lauren isn’t feeling well, so I’m here to entertain you! If you have any rotten tomatoes, please don’t throw them at me (wakka wakka wakka!). Keep your arms and hands inside at all times, and no flash photography…

One of my favorite things in life is MUSIC! I listen to it all day, every day. I listen to many different genres, so I thought I’d share with you a few albums that I consider to be essential!

Jimmy Eat World – Okay, so ALL of their albums make it to my playlist, but I’d have to say ‘Futures’ and ‘Clarity’ are the two best. 😀 I fell in love with them the first time I heard “Table for Glasses” (track 1 of ‘Clarity’). My favorite band, EVER.

Iron & Wine – ‘The Shepherd’s Dog’
I listened to this during my entire pregnancy, and it actually ended up as the music I listened to while I was laboring in the hospital. It’s relaxing, haunting, beautiful, lush, and simple at the same time. Every time I listen I find more things to love about it.

Common – ‘Be’
Really, a fantastic hip-hop album by a great MC. I am not huge on hip-hop, but this album transcends the usual fare offered up by rappers today.

The Beatles – ‘Revolver’
This is the most perfect Beatles album, at least in my humble opinion. Between “Taxman” and “Tomorrow Never Knows” is a whole slew of amazing tracks that lock you into your seat, riveted. “Eleanor Rigby”, anyone?! This may even be the most awesome rock album ever.

The Beach Boys – ‘Pet Sounds’
This is really the penultimate Beach Boys album, and showcases Brian Wilson’s ridiculous amount of talent and artistry.

What are your favorite albums? I’m always open to recommendations!

Thanks for sticking with me, and I hope you all have a wonderful day! Visit me over at www.booksnshoes.com and say hello.

Make sure to send Lauren some feel-better-vibes!

Call for Guest Bloggers

Hey! I’ve been sick for the past few days and I just don’t think I’m going to get much posted in here this week, so I am looking for people who would like to do a guest post. Plus, I could totally use a break.

If you would like to see the benefits, Campfire Chic wrote a great post on guest blogging.

Your topic should be in the general themes of: art/craft, food, music, thrift, design, snail mail. DIYs/tutorials are always welcome, especially since I have yet to do one, haha! (But I plan to in the future.) Some other suggestions: recipes, something you’ve thrifted recently, pretty mail you’ve received.

If you’re interested, email me at orange@. Include a general idea of what you would like to post about and when you think you can get it ready. Then we’ll talk specifics.

I would love to get a few posts for the rest of this week (even though it’s last minute) and into next week. I’m certainly willing to continue posting whatever I may receive, however.

Snail Mail Monday

I don’t have anything to share from incoming mail this week, but I just acquired a set of really cool postcards that I am going to be using for outgoing, so I will share those.

Luckily there are several of each of these in the pack so I can keep one of each, because these might be my most favorite postcards ever.

Happy Halloween!

Happy Halloween! (That’s the aftermath, we had at least double that in candy, if not more – $45 in candy!!)

We just handed out candy and didn’t dress up but I did wear my Polamalu jersey.

The highlight of the night was when two girls, no older than about four and six years old, came to the door. The five adults standing back on the sidewalk were all dressed in Steelers stuff. When I opened the door, the girls started singing, “Here we go Steelers, here we go!”

It was then that the older girl noticed that I was wearing a Steelers jersey..

The dad says, “Who’s on her jersey?”

The girl looks at the number and says, Oh! That’s Polamalu!”

Saw this house yesterday.
