home tour: books!

We put up all of our 800-ish books on IKEA shelves in our office. They’re organized by color, which wasn’t actually all that hard and was kind of fun!

I wanted them downstairs in the second living room, originally, but we have baseboard heaters lining the entire long wall. (Seriously, who does that?) I don’t think we’re allowed to buy anymore books because this is it for space, ha.

I want to put a large vintage globe up on the top of the shelf, but right now there are some old film containers up there, and a sail boat.

And I figure everyone wants to see some titles..

Don’t worry, the ones on the top are just my husband’s Star Wars books, therefore not interesting at all.

    The shelf is so cool!!! I’ve thought about organizing by color. Easier to keep it in order than putting them by topic. And I tend to look for books by spine color anyhow!

  • my bookshelves are my favorite thing in my apartment I think. We left our whole collection in the states when we moved but have amassed a large amount more in the past year and a half!

  • Ooo, I am jealous! We’re mostly library-goers, so we don’t actually own that many books! Mostly “For Dummies” guides, New Age books, D&D books and a few random titles. What kind of Star Wars books does your husband have? I’ve wanted to get into them, the Star Trek books and Warcraft Legends but I’ve only read one (a Warcraft Legends one) and no Star Wars. But I know a lot of them are supposed to be great and there’s also the Star Wars RPG books, which I’ve thought sound fun!

    I’ve been debating the whole “by color” idea for my books. I only have the two shelves in my living room though so I’m afraid if I’m not careful it’d look silly.
