ron paul on ‘the view’
Wednesday, December 5th, 2007Ron Paul is a unique voice in the Republican primaries as well as this upcoming election, and he is a “must learn about” candidate right now. You will find no other voice that speaks of the Constitution for what it is– our country’s law– and no other voice that understands the difference between federal and state governments and the critical importance of reverting to states’ rights.
Sometime recently, Ron Paul appeared on “The View”. I happened to come across his interview on YouTube.
It’s a farce of an interview, to put it bluntly, but all in all, Ron Paul shows his class. I believe he not only deals respectfully with the rudeness of these ladies, but he also shows the complete ignorance of Americans concerning our own law. Note the way he gets down to the real issue when it comes to abortion– Roe v. Wade is illegal and the rest is irrelevant. Get the mess out of the federal government and into the states, where it lawfully belongs, and then let’s finish the discussion.
While I was in Philadelphia this weekend, I toured Independence Hall. Our tour guide said something that struck me. He reminded us that every President has taken an oath to do three things– to protect, defend and uphold our Constitution. It is these three things for which the President is responsible, and it is only these three things. I wanted to yell ‘amen’ to that. He understood our history, and it is good to know that– even amidst today’s chaos of a government– one simply needs to visit a piece of living history, in a regular city, in our own country for a bit of a reminder.
Unfortunately, there are very few people in our country, both in and out of the goverment, who understand the concept of Constitutional law, a democratic republic or even have some semblance of knowledge concerning our history. We are often clouded by our own desire for our own way to realise the crimes our government has committed against us. Sometimes I wonder if in the name of “rights granted”, people are actually desiring to set themselves up for totalitarian rule. Socialism is not good, not even ‘in theory’, and the fact is, we should probably be scared. Sadly, the most uninformed are the loudest.
