philly trip
Tuesday, December 4th, 2007I went to Philly this weekend for husband’s job’s end of year ridiculously fancy boring party thing. Highlights of the trip include: historical Philly, said party, seeing my dad, missing the Steelers game, and hanging out at Philadelphia and Chicago airports.
I had the best time and I miss my home state. Missouri has actually changed my vocabulary. What was once “hick”– Amish Territory, PA– has now become “quaint”.
I learned two things on this trip.
1. I require polluted air for survival. The ‘fresh air’ nonsense of the central plains does terrible things to me; I never once had so much as an allergy living in PA. As soon as I stepped off that plane in Springfield, MO, I started gagging. We spent the entire day in Philly in 20s weather and I was just fine. Fine. I’ve been sick with sinus/allergy/headache/stuffiness problems since.
2. If you need to join the witness protection program, disguising yourself as the Liberty Bell is not the most subtle of ideas.
