get this guy off tv

There is a special on ABC right now about Hell. There are all sorts of views of Hell, and most are not related to the Christian view. ABC is talking about these views, including Hell on earth, and it is a rather interesting presentation.

However, there is this ex-pentecostal preacher on here being interviewed. He used to preach the Christian message but no longer does. He now believes Hell does not exist and that Christianity is false. He is spreading a message of an “all-loving” God who sends no one to Hell, and anyone who thinks otherwise is intolerant and against humanity.

He used to have a congregation of thousands, but now only has several hundred because he is not preaching the truth any longer. He admits to being there for the money, and is sad his congregation has “turned against him”– have treated him wrongly. When his congregation left him, he says, it was not the “evil atheists” that turned, but his “own brethren”. He is preaching hate of his “ex-brothers” and he openly admits that if he would preach his old views, he would earn more money, because “Hell is where the money is”.

I do not mind that he is speaking his beliefs. I’m not surprised that ABC has picked him, because of his personality as well as his feel good message– sure it sounds good on television. But, I am wary of his motives– he does not sound like he truly cares to preach the truth, but would rather go wherever the biggest viewing is.

The Christian in me says, “get him off of here!”. We do not need more people preaching against Christians, in the name of “tolerance”, especially with the recent backlash toward us. We definitely do not need more people caring more about their viewing audience than their ethics. But, above all, we do not need people preaching a false gospel in the name of a false god in the name of false money.
