On cooking..

There is an ongoing theme in our house – that I can’t teach my poor husband how to cook because I don’t actually know how I do it, I just do it. If he asks me a question, I have to come and do it myself because I can’t answer it.

So, continuing on our theme, today I was looking for Italian seasoning on Amazon and out of curiosity, I went to read the spices that are in it.

And, they happen to be the exact spices that I always use when I am out of Italian seasoning in order to get the same flavor.

And I know that I’ve never read them before and I have no recollection of ever being taught them. If you had asked me if I had them correct, I would have said yes. I just KNOW.

My poor husband is shocked though.

I don’t know what it is, but I just sort of know how to cook – I know how to create flavors and I can do comfort food (southern, Hungarian and PA Dutch..) I don’t really do recipes. It just runs in my family – my dad was an amazing cook. It’s the Hungarian in me. 😀

  • i so wish i had that gift..

  • Ahhh I’m so jealous of your natural cooking ability! I just forced myself to learn to cook this year…my instincts have gotten much better but it’s the result of a lot of hard work and experiments!

Experiments are fun! I definitely recommend them as part of the learning process.

I’m not a fancy cook though.. I’m more like the grandma in the kitchen who cooks “with love” haha!

  • I think some people are just natural cooks and for others it takes more effort.
