happy halloween!

Friday, October 31st, 2008

I hope everyone has a fun day today, no matter what they’re doing, even if you hate Halloween, because darn it, you can have a fun day too, haha.

Here are the rest of the Pumpkin Carols that I didn’t already post!

The Twelve Days of Halloween

On the twelfth day of Halloween
my true love gave to me twelve bats-a-flying,
eleven masks a-leering, ten ghouls
a groaning, nine ghosts a-booing, eight
monsters shrieking, seven pumpkins glowing,
four skeletons, three black cats, two trick-
or-treaters, and an owl in a dead tree.

Up in the Pumpkin Patch

Up in the pumpkin patch,
Witches pause.
Out jumps the Great One;
Hear the applause?!
Down through the rows
With goodies and toys
All for this followers’
Halloween joys!
Haunt! Haunt! Haunt!
Who wouldn’t want…
Haunt! Haunt! Haunt!
Who wouldn’t want…
To be in the pumpkin patch?
Cheer! Cheer! Cheer!
Waiting for the Great One
And being sincere!

Pumpkin Wonderland

Screech owls hoot, are list’nin’?
Beneath the moon, all is glist’nin’ –
A real scarey sight, we’re happy tonight,
Waitin’ in a pumpkin wonderland!

In the patch, we’re watching for Great Pumpkin,
We’ve been waiting for this night all year.
For we’ve tried to be nice to everybody
And to grow a pumpkin patch that is sincere!

Later on, while we’re eating
What we got trick-or-treating,
We’ll share all our sacks,
Of Halloween snakc,s
Waitin’ in a pumpkin wonderland!

The Halloween Song

Chester’s roaming in an open path;
Jack is stepping on his toes;
We’re all waiting for Great Pumpkin to come
And we’re dressed up in goblin clothes.
Everybody knows the goodies that Great Pumpkin brings
Help to make our “spirits” bright.
Pumpkin followers with flashlights aglow
Will keep their watch all through the night.
They know Great Pumpkin’s coming back.
He’ll bring a lot of toys and goodies in his sack
And all the kids will gather in a batch
When the Great Pumpkin rises out of the patch!
And so I’m offering this wise advie–
“You’re gonna grin from ear to ear
On Halloween night when the Great One returns
If your patch is sincere”!

O Pumpkin Cards

O Pumpkin cards! O Pumpkin cards!
Carry greetings to my friends.
Let them know the day is here.
When Great Pumpkin will appear.
O Pumpkin cards! O Pumpkin cards!
Carry greetings to my friends!

the scary dental boogie man

Friday, October 31st, 2008

I have been getting more interested in forums lately. I just joined over here, http://www.dentalfearcentral.org/forum/, and I’ve been reading a lot, though I haven’t posted.

It’s actually sort of helping me with my fear amazingly. I’m still not ready to go to the dentist, even though I am in a lot of pain, but I’m slowly getting better. There are a lot of people who have gone decades and decades without dental care and whose teeth are seriously 1000 times worse than mine, but I have yet to find anyone who has never been to the dentist (I’ve been once, when I was really little, but I have no memories of it). I keep hoping I’ll find someone who is in that position, because see, not going for decades is a long time and all and it means a lot of care is needed and it’s just as bad, if not worse, on a practical level, but these people still know what to expect. I don’t. And, that is my biggest problem, I think, the fear of the unknown.

great pumpkin is comin’ to town

Thursday, October 30th, 2008

And now, here’s a Pumpkin Carol: (I totally see how everyone is just so excited by these and all so I will just keep posting them! /sarcasm)

Great Pumpkin is Comin’ to Town

Oh, you better not shriek,
You better not groan,
You better not howl,
You better not mean,
Great Pumpkin is comin’ to town!

He’s going to find out
From folks that he meets
Who deserves tricks
And who deserves treats,
Great Pumpkin is comin’ to town!

He’ll search in every pumpkin patch,
Haunted houses far and near,
To see if you’ve been spreading gloom
Or bringing lots of cheer.

So, you better not shriek,
You better not groan,
You better not howl,
You better not moan,
Great Pumpkin is comin’ to town!

i’m dreaming of the great pumpkin

Today’s Pumpkin Carol.

I’m Dreaming of the Great Pumpkin

I’m dreaming of the Great Pumpkin
Just like I do this time each year.
When he brings nice toys
To good girls and boys
Who wait for him to appear.

I’m dreaming of the Great Pumpkin
With every Pumpkin card I write
May your jack-o-lanterns burn bright
When the Great Pumpkin visits you tonight.

chuck baldwin on voting third party

Wednesday, October 29th, 2008

I’ve previously mentioned that I am voting third party, but I think that this article here puts it better than I ever could.

Ron Paul also encouraged third party voting and ended up endorsing Chuck Baldwin. His article is equally as excellent. I thought I posted it when it first came up, but I just realized I did not.

and i’m not even a liberal

Wednesday, October 29th, 2008

I was given a packet of information from a ministry at my old church. The packet is information on the “value voter’s issues” for the two major party candidates. (Of course, no third party, and no issues that I am seriously interested in, so I have no use for this packet.)

But the thing that got me the most was the fact that under the “Non-partisan” category, the very first website that is listed is foxnews.com (worthwhile to note that no other “major” television news station is listed).

Cough, hack, etc. Seriously? Really? Truly?

How am I supposed to have any respect for this document after that?

oooo deep stuff

Sunday, October 26th, 2008

Do you ever think that you won’t like heaven? Like, to me, the concept of eternal life is freaky and intimidating, and the idea of just having a life and your time and dying and that’s all, is well kind of appealing. (Of course, dying and going to Hell is not, lol, but this is hypothetical.)

I tell myself that I’ll like it when I get there and can comprehend it, but right now, from a human perspective, I don’t actually find it that appealing. And the concept of eternally praising and worshipping God doesn’t really get me either. I think it could if I could grasp it, maybe? But since I can’t..

Oh, and then there is the whole “how will I know that I am ME after I die” thing… Like, if I’m perfect in Heaven, how does that make me the same being? And after my soul and body separate (and then later join at the bodily resurrection) will I still feel like me during the separation? Will it matter? And if it doesn’t feel like me, does the concept of where I end up really matter to ME now, anyway?

shivery yells

Sunday, October 26th, 2008

I have this book from when I was little called the The Peanuts Book of Pumpkin Carols. It’s orange on the front and has I think Linus on it, sitting on a pumpkin in a pumpkin patch, reciting something on his paper (probably carols), and the whole book is sorta pumpkin shaped. I’ve had it since I can remember.. so probably before the age of 4, haha.

On the front it says, “Halloween is becoming a forgotten holiday. We dedicated followers of the Great Pumpkin must do something to rekindle the Halloween spirit. Let us not rest until the universe resounds with pumpkin carols.”

So, in honor of Halloween coming up, I’m going to post them. Today’s is Shivery Yells.

We’re on sidewalks, we’re on porches,
Dressed in costumes to scare.
Through the city we’re ringiing the doorbells.
Trick or treating, candy eating,
Gooey stuff in our hair,
But the most fun is shrieking out loud:
Shivery yells, shivery yells,
That’s the Halloween nitty gritty.
Moan and groan, leave us alone.
Halloween’s just one night a year.

happy birthday

Wednesday, October 15th, 2008

It sucks being sick, especially since yesterday was my birthday and I was sick on my birthday! How mean is that?!

I slept most of the day and was in a daze the rest, but my husband did bring me three roses and this. It’s the Silent Brass system for trumpet. Basically, it’s a mute, and a small sound system and a set of headphones that allow me to play my trumpet without all the neighbors hearing, but I can hear it well myself. I did test it out last night and it sounds pretty good, and it does allow some noise through, but nothing more than whistling or the TV. I’ve been wanting one of these for forever, so I’m happy about this!

I’m still sick today. I hope I get better soon, but it’s one of those types of colds that I think will stick around awhile.. especially the cough. And, we have a wedding to go to on Friday, so I really hope it doesn’t stick around.
