fat acceptance
Fat acceptance as a movement or concept is new to me, but I’ve been reading a bit here and there. I’ve already known for awhile that things such as BMI, diseases linked to obesity, and the general perception of hating fat people are all nothing short of bullshit. And, yes, we’re truly hated by society and it’s frightening, and I’m in the perceived category of “not that fat”. I happen to be quite interested in civil rights, though I tend to disagree with most movements in what exactly is a civil right, but nonetheless rights are my “pet issue”. But, the hate that exists is something I can understand and appreciate as part of this, and the right to live my life and have my body in the way that I choose, particularly in the way that is natural.
But, I’ve never known there was a whole political movement out there, and it’s quite inspiring. To be honest, yes, I’d like to lose weight, but I love the idea of being to accept me as who I am. The funny thing is, the more I accept me right now, right this second, and drop the mindset of things like “oh, I’ll keep this shirt here just in case it fits, or I’ll get that when I lose a few pounds”, or “I have to lose X amount of weight before I go to Y event”, the more I naturally desire to exercise and feel better in general. It’s inspiring to be able to say that it’s okay to be fat, and it’s inspiring to see people work so hard to get others to see people as people, no matter what.
It’s also quite inspiring to see fat people look so darn good. Click here.

This entry here is a great summary of things, a great debunking of the fat myth. I’m so glad I stumbled upon this. I refer anyone who with questions to the above entry.

It’s been a loooong time coming for me but I finally have more acceptance over my body than I have, ever. I got rid of all the clothing I was saving “when I lose the weight”. I stopped even going into stores where I could buy was hair clips or socks.

I’m getting there too. I’m much more accepting of who I am.
I’ve believe the whole “fat makes you sooooo unhealthy” thing for quite a while. But honestly - i rarely get sick, I have a high energy level, and I can be pretty active.
I’m a lot like you in “sure, wouldn’t mind losing some weight - but I’m learning to be ok now.”
